THE MEANING OF LIFE............

On the first day, God created the dog and said:
'Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this, I will give you a life span of twenty years.'
The dog said: 'That's a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I'll give you back the other ten?'
So God agreed.

On the second day, God created the monkey and said:
'Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I'll give you a twenty-year life span.'
The monkey said: 'Monkey tricks for twenty years? That's a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten like the Dog did?'
And God agreed.

On the third day, God created the cow and said:
'You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer's family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.'
The cow said: 'That's kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years.. How about twenty and I'll give back the other forty?'
And God agreed again.

A HINDU WEDDING

A Hindu wedding is inviolable...Hindus marry for life." Divorce is not an Hindu concept". Therefore marriages should only be contracted between compatible individuals. The compatibility (porutham) of man a women intending to get married is determined after taking into account 21 separate factors...:) of these the  following 10 are considered more important..:)

Thina porutham - Known as natchathira or star porutham for the health and life of the couple.

Kana porutham - If this porutham is weak then the couple will not see eye to eye and will be quarelling more often than not. Life for them will not be blissful.

Mahendra porutham - for children in the marriage. Its absence makes the marriage childless.

Stree theeka porutham - A strong stree theeka porutham ensures a prosperous family life, munificently blessed by the Goddess Mahalakhsmi. It also means that the bride will have a long life as a sumangali / married woman. She will not know widowhood soon in her marriage.

Yoni porutham - relates to the physical compatibility of the couple and ensures that their physical relationship will be a happy one.

Raasi porutham - The couple will be blest with children and is deemed to be best when the couple share the same raasi or astrological sign.

Raasi athpathi porutham - for marital bless and prosperity..:)

Vasiya porutham - its presence means there will be a strong mutual physical attraction between the couple resulting in a family life based on love, mutual respect, understanding and cooperation.Ratchu porutham determines the husband's lifespan. If this porutham is weak or absent the proposal is called off.

Vethai porutham - When this porutham is strong the couple will be able to avoid ill-luck and misfortune...:)
Our Sastras have ordained that a marriage may be solemined if the following 5 poruthams are suffciently strong:) :
Thina porutham / Kana porutham / Yoni Porutham / Raasi Porutham / Ratch Porutham..:)

THAALI " Hindu wedding chain...The Mangalsutra..:) during the wedding the bridegroom will knot a Thaali made up of several pieces of thread around the neck of his bride.Strung into the thaali will be the Maangalyam. Three months after the wedding the string thaali will be replaced either by a permanent string thaali or a "gold chain..:)"

The thaali that was tied during the wedding is sacred & should be reverently treated it must not a be carelessely disposed off where it may be stepped upon or otherwise abused. Therefore the most appropriate manner of disposing it is by throwing it into a river(flowing water) where it will be washed away to the sea..:)

LORD GANESHA

Ganesha is the formless divinity - encapsulated in a magnificent form, for the benefit of the devotee. Gan means group.  The universe is a group of atoms and different energies. This universe would be in chaos if there was no supreme law governing these diverse groups of entities. The Lord of all these groups of atoms and energies is Ganesha. He is the supreme consciousness that pervades all & brings order in this universe.
Lord Ganesha
The essence of Ganesha is brought out beautifully by Adi Shankara. Though Ganesha is worshiped as the elephant-headed God, the form (swaroop) is just to bring out the formless (parabrahma roopa). He is ‘Ajam Nirvikalpam Niraakaaramekam’. This means Ganesha is Ajam (unborn), he is Nirvikalpa (attributeless), he is Niraakaar (formless) and he symbolizes the consciousness which is omnipresent. Ganesha is the same energy which is the reason for this universe, from which everything manifests and into which everything will dissolve.
We are all familiar with the story on how Ganesha became the elephant-headed God. Shiva and Parvati had been celebrating and Parvati becomes dirty. When she realizes this, she removes the dirt from her body, creates a boy out of it and asks him to keep guard while she bathed. When Shiva returned, the boy could not recognise him and obstructed his passage. So Shiva chopped off the boy’s head and entered.  Parvati was shocked. She explained that the boy was their son and pleaded with Shiva to save him at all costs. Shiva then instructed his helpers to go and get the head of someone who was sleeping with the head pointing to the north. The helpers then got the head of an elephant, which Shiva affixed to the boy’s torso and Ganesha was born!
Does this story sound strange? Why should Parvati have dirt on her body? Didn’t the all-knowing Shiva recognise His own son? Was Shiva, the epitome of peace, so short-tempered that he cut off the head of his own son? And why an elephant head on Ganesha?  There is a deeper meaning to all these.
Parvati is symbolic of festive energy. Her becoming dirty signifies that celebration can easily become Rajasik or feverish and can take you away from your center. Dirt is symbolic of ignorance and Shiva is symbolic of the Supreme Innocence, Peace and Knowledge. So when Ganesha obstructs the path of Shiva, this means that ignorance, which is an attribute of the head, does not recognise knowledge. Then knowledge has to overcome ignorance. This is the symbolism behind Shiva chopping off the boy’s head.
And why the elephant head? Elephant represents both gyan shakti and karma shakti. The principle qualities of the elephant are wisdom and effortlessness. The enormous head of the elephant signifies Wisdom and Knowledge. Elephants don't walk around obstacles, neither do they stop at them. They just remove them and keep walking straight on – signifying effortlessness. So, when we worship Lord Ganesha these elephant qualities within us are kindled and we take on these qualities.
Ganesha's big belly represents generosity and total acceptance. Ganesha’s upraised hand, depicting protection, means, “Fear not - I am with you,” and his lowered hand, palm facing outwards means - unending giving as well as an invitation to bow down – symbolic of the fact that we will all dissolve into earth one day. Ganesha also has a single tusk which signifies one-pointedness. Even the implements Ganesha wields are symbolic. He carries in his hands, the ‘Ankusa’ (signifies awakening) and the ‘Paasa’ (signifies control). With awakening, a lot of energy is released, which without proper control, can go haywire.
And why does Ganesha, the elephant-headed God travel on something as small as a mouse? Isn’t that so incongruous? Again there is symbolism that runs deeps.  The mouse snips and nibbles away at ropes that bind. The mouse, which gradually nibbles away, is like the mantra which can cut through sheaths and sheaths of ignorance, leading to the ultimate knowledge represented by Ganesha.
Our ancient Rishis were so deeply intelligent that they chose to express Divinity in terms of symbols rather than words, since words change over time, but symbols remain unchanged. Let us keep these deep symbolisms in mind as we experience the omnipresent in the form of the elephant God, yet be fully aware that Ganesha is very much within us.   This is the wisdom we should carry as we celebrate Ganesh Chaturti.

Significance of the Ganesha Form
Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifiesMaya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents
Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.
The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition. The snake that runs round his waist represents energy in all forms. And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.
How Ganesha Got His Head
The story of the birth of this zoomorphic deity, as depicted in the Shiva Purana, goes like this: Once goddess Parvati, while bathing, created a boy out of the dirt of her body and assigned him the task of guarding the entrance to her bathroom. When Shiva, her husband returned, he was surprised to find a stranger denying him access, and struck off the boy's head in rage. Parvati broke down in utter grief and to soothe her, Shiva sent out his squad (gana) to fetch the head of any sleeping being who was facing the north. The company found a sleeping elephant and brought back its severed head, which was then attached to the body of the boy. Shiva restored its life and made him the leader (pati) of his troops. Hence his name 'Ganapati'. Shiva also bestowed a boon that people would worship him and invoke his name before undertaking any venture.
However, there's another less popular story of his origin, found in the Brahma Vaivarta Purana: Shiva asked Parvati to observe the punyaka vrata for a year to appease Vishnu in order to have a son. When a son was born to her, all the gods and goddesses assembled to rejoice on its birth. Lord Shani, the son of Surya (Sun-God), was also present but he refused to look at the infant. Perturbed at this behaviour, Parvati asked him the reason, and Shani replied that his looking at baby would harm the newborn. However, on Parvati's insistence when Shani eyed the baby, the child's head was severed instantly. All the gods started to bemoan, whereupon Vishnu hurried to the bank of river Pushpabhadra and brought back the head of a young elephant, and joined it to the baby's body, thus reviving it.

What He symbolises

It is believed that the Hindu sages conceptualised the rup or murti (forms) of the different gods in keeping with the attributes they wanted to portray through them. When we look at the number of meanings in the rup of Ganesh, this does seem very true. Here are some of the most important symbols associated with Ganesh.
  • His broad crown is an invitation to think big.
  • The tiny eyes speak of the importance of concentration and attention to detail for success in any foray.
  • One chief form of concentration is to listen to others more, and talk less. This is symbolised by the huge elephantine ears and small mouth He sports.
  • Ganesh has only one tusk, with the other broken off. This symbolises the importance of holding on only to the good and discarding the bad.
  • The trunk of Ganesh symbolises the importance of being efficient and adaptable in order to be successful in one's ventures. The curvature is also said to represent the rising of the kundalini (spiritual energy that is believed to be coiled serpent-like at the base of the spine) powers.
  • His large tummy points to the necessity of digesting all that life has to offer—the good, the bad, and the ugly.
  • The abhaya mudra (gesture of fearlessness) of His lower right hand symbolises Ganesh's blessings and protection on a person's journey through life, especially the spiritual one.
  • In His upper right hand, Ganesh usually holds an axe, with which He is said to cut of all attachments.
  • He pulls the devotee nearer to the spiritual path by the rope that He carries in His upper left hand.
  • He offers rewards for penances (sadhana) done with the modak (type of confection, usually made from rice flour and a stuffing of jaggery, coconut, etc.) He holds in His lower left hand.
  • The bowls and baskets of offerings at Ganesh's feet are there to symbolise that the entire world, and all its choicest pleasures, are out there for the taking.
  • Ganesh's tiny pet and vehicle, his mouse, bowing down close by, is there to indicate that though a little desire is good, it is essential for one to master it. You have to ride your desires and not vice versa.

The birth of Ganesha
One day Goddess Parvati was at home on Mt.Kailash preparing for a bath. As she didn’t want to be disturbed, she told Nandi, her husband Shiva’s Bull, to guard the door and let no one pass. Nandi faithfully took his post, intending to carry out Parvati’s wishes. But, when Shiva came home and naturally wanted to come inside, Nandi had to let him pass, being loyal first to Shiva. Parvati was angry at this slight, but even more than this, at the fact that she had no one as loyal to Herself as Nandi was to Shiva. So, taking the turmeric paste (for bathing) from her body and breathing life into it, she created Ganesha, declaring him to be her own loyal son.
The next time Parvati wished to bathe, she posted Ganesha on guard duty at the door. In due course, Shiva came home, only to find this strange boy telling him he couldn’t enter his own house! Furious, Shiva ordered his army to destroy the boy, but they all failed! Such power did Ganesha possess, being the son of Devi Herself!
This surprised Shiva. Seeing that this was no ordinary boy, the usually peaceful Shiva decided he would have to fight him, and in his divine fury severed Ganesha’s head, killing him instantly. When Parvati learned of this, she was so enraged and insulted that she decided to destroy the entire Creation! Lord Brahma, being the Creator, naturally had his issues with this, and pleaded that she reconsider her drastic plan. She said she would, but only if two conditions were met: one, that Ganesha be brought back to life, and two, that he be forever worshipped before all the other gods.
Shiva, having cooled down by this time, and realizing his mistake, agreed to Parvati’s conditions. He sent Brahma out with orders to bring back the head of the first creature he crosses that is laying with its head facing North. Brahma soon returned with the head of a strong and powerful elephant, which Shiva placed onto Ganesha’s body. Breathing new life into him, he declared Ganesha to be his own son as well, and gave him the status of being foremost among the gods, and leader of all the ganas (classes of beings), Ganapati.
Meaning of the story of  Ganesh
At first glance, this story just seems like a nice tale that we might tell our children, or a myth without any real substance. But, it’s true mystical meaning is veiled. It is explained thus:
Parvati is a form of Devi, the Parashakti (Supreme Energy). In the human body She resides in the Muladhara chakra as the Kundalini shakti. It is said that when we purify ourselves, ridding ourselves of the impurities that bind us, then the Lord automatically comes. This is why Shiva, the Supreme Lord, came unannounced as Parvati was bathing.
Nandi, Shiva’s bull, who Parvati first sent to guard the door represents the divine temperment. Nandi is so devoted to Shiva that his every thought is directed to Him, and he is able to easily recognize the Lord when He arrives. This shows that the attitude of the spiritual aspirant is what gains access to Devi’s (the kundalini shakti’s) abode. One must first develop this attitude of the devotee before hoping to become qualified for the highest treasure of spiritual attainment, which Devi alone grants.
After Nandi permitted Shiva to enter, Parvati took the turmeric paste from Her own body, and with it created Ganesha.. Yellow is the color associated with the Muladhara chakra, where the kundalini resides, and Ganesha is the deity who guards this chakra. Devi needed to create Ganesha, who represents the earthbound awareness, as a shield to protect the divine secret from unripe minds. It is when this awareness begins to turn away from things of the world, and toward the Divine, as Nandi had, that the great secret is revealed.
Shiva is the Lord and Supreme Teacher. Ganesha here represents the ego-bound Jiva. When the Lord comes, the Jiva, surrounded as it is with the murky cloud of ego, usually doesn’t recognize Him, and maybe even ends up arguing or fighting with Him! Therefore, it is the duty of the Lord, in the form of the Guru, to cut off the head of our ego! So powerful is this ego however, that at first the Guru’s instructions may not work, as Shiva’s armies failed to subdue Ganesha. It often requires a tougher approach, but, eventually the compassionate Guru, in His wisdom finds a way.
Devi threatened to destroy the whole Creation after learning of Ganesha’s demise. This indicates that when the ego thus dies, the liberated Jiva loses interest in its temporary physical vehicle, the body, and begins to merge into the Supreme. The physical world is here represented by Devi. This impermanent and changeable creation is a form of Devi, to which this body belongs; the unchanging Absolute is Shiva, to which belongs the Soul. When the ego dies, the external world, which depends on the ego for its existence, disappears along with it. It is said that if we want to know the secrets of this world, which is a manifestation of Devi, then we must first receive the blessings of Ganesha.
Shiva restoring life to Ganesha, and replacing his head with an elephant’s, means that before we can leave the body, the Lord first replaces our small ego with a “big”, or universal ego. This doesn’t mean that we become more egoistic. On the contrary, we no longer identify with the limited individual self, but rather with the large universal Self. In this way, our life is renewed, becoming one that can truly benefit Creation. It is however only a functional ego, like the one Krishna and Buddha kept. It is like a thin string tying the liberated Consciousness to our world, solely for our benefit.
Ganesha is given dominion over the Ganas, which is a general term denoting all classes of beings, ranging from insects, animals and humans to the subtle and celestial beings. These various beings all contribute to the government of the Creation; everything from natural forces like storms and earthquakes, to the elemental qualities like fire and water, to functioning of the body’s organs and processes. If we don’t honor the Ganas, then our every action is a form of thievery, as it is unsanctioned. Therefore, instead of propitiating each Gana in order to receive their blessings, we bow to their Lord, Sri Ganesha. By receiving His grace, we receive the grace of all. He removes any potential obstacles and enables our endeavors to succeed.
Such is the greatness of Sri Ganesha! Jai Ganesha!

9 THURSDAY SHIRDI SAI BABA VRAT

9 THURSDAY SHIRDI SAI BABA VRAT

Om Sai Ram

Nisha Jani was born in Ujjain, the holy city of Mahakal. Her real name is Neeta Jani. She is affectionately called as Nisha by her near and dear ones. Since he childhood she was brought up in a spiritual environment, She was inclined towards spiritualism and believed in the tenets of Sai’s mantra, ‘god is One”, Compassion towards other living beings, mutual tolerance between members of various creeds and sects, Unity, humanitarian values, etc. from her early age. She believes that to love god, one need not sacrifice his worldly life(sansar). By leading a family life also, one can surrender his soul, mind, body and wealth according to one’s capacity.

At present she is serving as a teacher. By Sai’s grace, her Gujarati book was published in the year 2000. As the demand for the Hindi Version increased, Hindi book was published in the year 2002. Her wish was to share Sainath’s wonderful miracles in other devotee’s lives and experiences in her own life with others., thus spreading Sainath’s grace and fame and make the people chant Sai Bhavani, Datta Bhavani with love and devotion. Initially these books were distributed free of cost. As the number of devotees observing this vrat increased, the demand for the books increased and the printing cost also increased. We wanted these books to reach each and every person. But free distribution to everyone was beyond our capacity. So we had to fix a minimum and affordable price for this book. Even today these books are given free of cost for needy and poor.
In this kaliyug, devotion to Sai should spread everywhere, in each home and person to person, Sai Leelas should be sung with love and fervor. This is our intention behind printing this book. Let peace prevail everywhere. Let Sai shower His blessings to all.

Sai! Grant me a boon which includes one and all!
Thus I am not deprived on anything, so be saints and all!

SaiBaba one of the foremost saints of modern India, lived in Shirdi for 60 years and elevated it to a great spiritual centre. By the sheer brilliance of His spiritual magnetism, He drew numerous devotees towards Him. Even today He is a dynamic spiritual Force which is invoked by countless devotees for spiritual and material welfare. The devotees’ experiences who observe this Vrat is itself a great evidence of His spiritual splendor which dazzles bright even after He has left His mortal body several years ago. We have a great faith in Sai. This Vrat has gained popularity in Gujarat. To benefit the devotees of other regions, this book is already published in many languages like Marathi, Tamil, hindi and now in English.

We sincerely bow to Lord Shri Sai Baba who has blessed me with this glorious opportunity of translating this work. We are ever indebted to His mercy towards us. We pray to God that Sainath should be enthroned in our hearts forever and His lotus Feet should be our shelter.

We sincerely thank Ms.Nisha Jani who gave us this noble work.
Ms.Hiral Jani & Mrs.Padma R.Ashtekar

Preface:

SaiBaba appeared as a young lad of sixteen years under the Neem Tree in Shirdi.

SaiBaba incarnated in this world of mundane existence to uplift the poor and suffering mankind with the Earth as His Mother and Holy Supreme as His Father.

Saints don’t belong to any caste or religion. Their noble mission is to spread compassion, peace and guide the humanity to salvation. He, the ocean of mercy that God is One and guided His devotees to realize this immense truth. He advised that, because the past was imperfect and future is uncertain, we must not spoil perfect present. His two mantras were faith and perseverance, what is wanted on our part is whole-hearted devotion to Him.

When a devotee has got firm faith and devotion, His wishes are soon fulfilled. Devotion to Sai should burn brightly in our hearts like the eternal fire Dhuni of sai. We should listen to our inner self and immerse in the devotion of Sai as a bee in sweet smelling lotus.

Sai asked His devotees not to search God outside, because God is very much within us.

Whoever has got complete and whole hearted devotion to SaiBaba will have his calamities and danger warded off and his welfare will be attended by Baba. Sai has assured His devotees that He will always stand by His devotees at the time of crisis and the devotees with certainly experience His presence and Sai will take the favorite form of His devotee to bless His children.

Sai is ever indebted to one who surrenders His body, soul and wealth. If we cast our burden on Him, He bears it for us.

Whenever there is decay of Dharma (righteousness) and an ascendancy of unrighteousness, God manifests Himself. For the protection of the virtuous and destruction of the vicious and for establishment of Righteousness, God incarnated in this world, age after age.

SaiBaba of Shirdi is one of these incarnations. Devotion to Sai is the powerful magnet which attracts lots of people. Nobody knows His religion or caste. He sang Quran verses beautifully at the same time verses quoted from Hindu scriptures. He acted as a unique bond between Hindus and Muslims.

Sai gave wonderful vision to His devotees in the form of their favorite deities. Fortunate devotees were blessed with the vision of Vitthal, Shiva, Ram and Krishna and by taking Sai’s form, He delighted many devotees in their dreams.
Even today, many years after leaving His earthly body, His devotees experience SaiBaba’s holy Spirit relieving them out of their miseries.
Nobody can count the miracles Baba performed during His lifetime.
Spiritual magnetism of Sai still attracts His devotees and when a devotee cries with despair and distress, Baba wipes his tears and the devotee experiences merciful help at the time of crisis.

Sai Baba is God.

Story behind the Sai Vrat Pooja :

A lady named Kokila and her husband Mahesh were living in a city. They had great affection towards each other. But Mahesh’s nature was quarrelsome and had little control over his speech and talking. Neighbors were irritated by his nature. But Kokila was a pious religious lady. She had immense faith in God and coped up all troubles patiently.
Slowly her husband’s business went through a rough weather and income was almost nil. Mahesh started staying in house the entire day and his quarrelsome nature worsened.

One afternoon, an aged saint came and stood at the entrance of their home. His face shone with a unique luster. He asked for rice and pulses. The saint blessed her ‘Sai will bless you with happiness’. Kokila replied in frustration that happiness is not in her destiny and narrated him, her entire sorrowful story.

The Saint advised her to observe SaiBaba’s vrat for 9 Thursdays by having fruits, liquids or by taking food only once on Thursday. If possible to visit Shirdi Baba’s Mandir, perform worship at home, complete the vrat with due formalities on 9th Thursday by feeding the poor, distribute Sai Vrat books to 5, 11 or 21 persons according to the devotee’s capacity and thus spread the power of Sai Vrat. This has miraculous effects and is best suited for this kaliyug. It fulfills the innermost wishes of a devotee. But the devotee should have immense faith and devotion towards SaiBaba. Whoever observes this Vrat with due formalities, all his desires will be fulfilled by Baba.

Kokila also took a vow to observe 9 Thursdays vrat and she completed it with all formalities like feeding the poor, distribution of Sai vrat books on 9th Thursday.

The troubles in their house vanished and they were filled with peace and happiness. As Ramesh’s quarrelsome nature also changed for good, his business also picked up, and they prospered and started living happily.

One day Kokila’s brother in law and his wife came from Surat and amidst conversation, they told sadly that their children are not studying well and they failed in their examination. Kokila explained to them the power of 9 Thursdays Sai Vrat and she told them that devotion to Sai will enable their children to study well. But faith and patience are very important. Kokila’s sister in law wanted the details about the vrat.

Kokila told her to observe the fast by taking fruits, liquids or have food only once on all 9 Thursdays. Have darshan of Sai in a nearby SaiMandir on all 9 Thursdays.

1. This Vrat can be observed by any man, woman or child, by persons of any caste or religion.
2. Perform Puja to Sai’s photo, offer yellow flowers or garlands, light the lamp, incense sticks and offer naivedya and partake the Prasad with everyone.
3. Read Sai Vrat story, Sai Bhavani, Sai Chalish, etc., the full book respectively.
4. Feed 5 persons on 9th Thursday
5. Distribute Sai vrat books (5, 11 or 21) to neighbours, friends or relatives and other known persons.

After some days, Kokila received a letter from her sister-in-law from Surat stating that her children have started doing the Sai vrat and they have started studying well and she has also observed the vrat and distributed sai vrat books at her office. Regarding this, she had written that her friend Charu’s daughter’s marriage was fixed with a good suitable alliance because of this vrat and one of her neighbour’s jewel box had got lost and after observing Sai vrat, 2 months later she got back her jewel box (sender being unknown). Such wonderful experiences she had narrated in her letter.

Kokila realized the power of Sainath and sai vrat and her devotion towards Sainath strengthened. Oh! Sai! Please bless us and confer us with happiness.

Whatever the disease may be, if a person cries in despair to Sai, Sai relieves him of the pain and cures him of the disease. I was suffering from severe pain in my knees. A few days back, my legs were fractured and bones near my knees were broken severely. Doctor suggested an operation, but I refused. I became alright after some days. Suddenly pain started again. I couldn’t dare to walk even few steps for a week and the pain was so severe. All our family members were planning for a Shirdi trip during holidays and also for a Rajasthan trip. It was impossible for me to even think of accompanying them. I had created a scene because of my pain and I started feeling that I will not be able to walk in future.

I had faith in Sainath. I had done fasting before but not with any formalities or rules. One of my acquaintances told me the power of 9 Thursdays Sai vrat. I also wished to observe the vrat. I somehow gathered courage and rode my scooter to Sai Mandir. I prayed to Him that I also want to visit Shirdi and would like to visit Rajasthan, the pain is unbearable and if my knee pain vanishes before I step out of the Mandir, I vow to observe 9 Thursdays Sai vrat.

I had never experienced such a wonderful miracle in my life. As I stepped out of the temple, my knee pain vanished miraculously. I felt very happy; I visited Shirdi, Rajasthan and walked a lot and even trekked mountains with Sai’s blessings without any trace of pain.

Passed SSC Exam with good percentage

Hetal was studying in a school and she was not able to concentrate in her studies well. She completed her 9th standard with great difficulties. She always complained that she could not remember anything. Her parents were worried about her tenth standard. She failed in all subjects in quarterly, half yearly exams in tenth standard. Some well wishers advised her to observe 9 Thursdays vrat and she started observing Sai vrat and completed it sincerely. Hetal’s memory increased and the teachers who had complained earlier started praising her. By Sainath’s grace, she passed SSC exams with 75% and she joined science group in 11th standard.

Tumor Vanished

Jalpa had severe pain in her ears and her hearing ability also reduced to a great extent. She consulted an ENT specialist. Doctor told her that a small tumor like formation was in the rear part of the ear and surgery was a must and biopsy also had to be taken and he told the name of the disease and fixed the date for operation. All family members were upset. Jalpa decided to observe 9 Thursdays vrat and she postponed the operation. She completed the Sai vrat by feeding the poor and distributing the vrat books. She went to the hospital and took all the required tests. All test reports were normal and the tumor had vanished. Doctor told her that she is absolutely normal and there is no need for the surgery. Her faith in Sai strengthened.

Miraculous recovery from a danger

Ramesh’s wife was suffering from constipation. She used to have a medicine called Harde mixed with warm water as a remedy. One day, she had harde with warm water and afterwards noticed that the glass was broken and a little piece was missing. She doubted that the glass piece would have gone into her stomach along with the medicine. She searched for the glass piece but she could not find it. After two hours, blood came along with the stools and did not stop. Loss of blood was more and she became almost unconscious. It was 1’0 clock in the midnight and Ramesh lighted a lamp in front of Shirdi SaiBaba’s photo and prayed that if the flow of blood stops and his wife is saved, then he will observe the vow of 9 Thursdays vrat. After some time, the glass piece came along with stools and blood flow also stopped. He took her to the hospital at the same night and the doctor told them that it could have been fatal if the glass piece had caused any internal injury, but now she was perfectly alright. Ramesh also observed Sai vrat and fulfilled his vow.

Transfer order cancelled

Neela was serving in an office. She was transferred from Ahmedabad to kutch. Her mother became very upset and fell sick. They tried all means and applied requesting to cancel the transfer order. And one more order came to her that if she doesn’t join within 10 days she will be expelled from the job. Her mother was tensed to send her daughter alone to such a distant place. It was a Thursday. Neela’s friend Nandita visited her and advised her to observe 9 Thursdays Sai vrat. Neela started the vrat the same day. Surprisingly, on third day she received a letter stating that her transfer order to Kutch is cancelled and she has been transferred to a branch in Ahmedabad itself. Her faith in Sai strengthened and she fulfilled the vow and fed the poor and distributed Sai vrat books on 9th Thursday.

Got a good job after long time

Rajani was trying for a good job for almost more than a year. She was depressed that she did not receive any calls. She heard about Sai vrat from a friend and started it on a Thursday. That Sunday, she got a chance for a test and the second Thursday, she got the interview call, the same day she got the offer letter and the date of joining was set for the next (i.e, the 3rd Thursday). She was so happy as it was her dream company. They had not allotted her location based on projects, she wished it was Bangalore itself and on the 4th Thursday, it was confirmed that her project was based at Bangalore only.

Other miracles:

Rekha was a government employee. One day, he colleague Suresh distributed sweets and happily told that a son was born to him after 10 years. He told about Sai vrat and advised Rekha to observe the vreat and gave her the vrat book. Rekha also observed Sai vrat with due formalities. Arati Translation (English)

Oh Sai Baba, we wave lights before You, the bestower of happiness to the Jivas. Give us - Your servants and devotees rest under the dust of Your feet. Burning (destroying) desire, You remain absorbed in Your Self and show the Lord (God) to the aspirants. As one feels intently, You give him experiences or realizations accordingly. Oh kind-hearted, Your power is such! Meditation on Your name removes our fear of the samsar. Your method of work is really unfathomable as You always help the poor and helpless. In this Kali age, You - the all-pervasive Datta, have really incarnated as Saguna Brahma. Ward off the fear of samsar of the devotees who come to You every Thursday so as to enable them to see the feet of the Lord. Oh! God of Gods, I pray that let my treasure be the service of Your feet. Feed Madhav and (you should utter your name here) with happiness as the cloud feeds the Chatak bird with pure water and thus keep up Your Word. Amen !

Sai Baba’s 11 Promises
• No harm shall befall him who sets his foot on the soil of Shirdi.
• He who cometh to My Samadhi, his sorrow and suffering shall cease.
• Though I be no more in flesh and blood, I shall ever protect My devotees.
• Trust in Me and your prayer shall be answered.
• Know that My Spirit is immortal. Know this for yourself.
• Show unto Me he who sought refuge and been turned away.
• In whatever faith men worship Me, even so do I render to them.
• Not in vain is My Promise that I shall ever lighten your burden.
• Knock, and the door shall open. Ask and ye shall be granted.
• To him who surrenders unto Me totally I shall be ever indebted.
• Blessed is he who has become one with Me.
